an explorer, I would say,

on a long,

evolving journey.

This is a special place,

this stop along the way.

When I was young, the clouds beckoned

with illusive shapes.

There were towering castles and hidden lands

of giants with capes.

There were sweeping ships to ride and friendly beasts

to chase.

Great, billowing pillows offered places in which to hide.

Quiet pool,

though gently lands the swan,

your reflections are broken.

Yet you comfort me,

for not only do you mend,

but add the image of the swan as well.

 It pleases me

that when I

press you gently to my cheek

you are not too disdainful.

Rather

you purr,

and allow me,

for a while,

to intrude upon your dignity.

                 I came here to rest

                 gentle breeze.

                 My strings are taut....
